Whether you are building a new home, or starting a remodeling project, you can be confident that genuine hardwood flooring will add significant beauty, elegance, quality and long lasting value to your home. Durable, strong, and resilient, it can last a lifetime with proper care. That's great news since it never goes out of style even if you change your décore. From elegant to rustic floor types, hardwood has become a hallmark. We will help you select from the great selection of finishes, colors, and wood types available.

Acclimation: All natural hardwood products need to be properly stored and acclimated to their new environment for at least four or five days prior to installation.

Sub-Surface preparation: This is essential to a successful outcome. Sub-floors that are clean and level as possible dramatically increase the life and performance of your new wood floor.
Double N Carpets has the experience to handle all methods and types of hardwood floor installations including bamboo (below):

  • Nail Down: Solid strips and planks are installed with nailing cleats, a wood flooring nailer and a mallet.
  • Staple Down: We use a pneumatic gun to drive long staples into the hardwood and sub-floor.
  • Glue Down: Here, adhesive or a natural resin or mastic is spread with a trowel to adhere your hardwood to the sub-floor. This technique is typically used to install engineered wood and parquet floors.
  • Floating: Some engineered floors and Longstrip tongue and groove floors can be floated. With this method, your hardwood floor is not fastened to the sub-floor. A thin pad is placed between the hardwood and the sub-floor. The recommended wood glue holds the strips or planks together.

Do you know which types of hardwood should never be installed below grade? Which types of hardwood can be installed over concrete or existing floors? When would you need a new wood underlayment? For best results we recommend you have your floor professionally installed. Failure to use the manufacturer's recommended tools, adhesives, or
fasteners could void your warranties. Some floor installation methods are more labor or material intensive than others and mistakes can be expensive.
